Cole Beasley is a productive wide receiver with a track record of consistent success in the NFL. Still, when the seven-year pro signed with the Buffalo Bills in free agency, it was easy to understand why his addition wasn't met with much fervent fanfare – not just across the league, but in Buffalo, too.

This telling statistic from Pro Football Focus, though, should certainly make Bills fans more excited about Beasley's presence on the roster. According to PFF, he hauled in 54 passes out of the slot with the Dallas Cowboys last season, the fifth-highest total in the NFL.

Nothing matters more to Buffalo's present and future than the development of franchise quarterback Josh Allen. The Wyoming product was typically erratic as a rookie starter last season, throwing for 2,074 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions while completing just 52.8 percent of his passes – worst among regular starters by a significant margin.

Obviously, the job of every quarterback in the NFL is made easier by a target who can be counted on to get open, and Beasley fits that bill for Buffalo from the slot. He had 65 catches for 672 yards and three touchdowns last season, numbers that are a realistic expectation of those he's poised put up during his debut season with the Bills, and could even be improved upon.

Beasley, by the way, isn't the only wide receiver Buffalo added in the offseason. The team also signed former Cincinnati Bengals speedster John Brown and former Oakland Raiders returner and receiver Andre Roberts, giving Allen two additional weapons next season.
