Josh Allen took over for the Buffalo Bills as their starting quarterback and the face of their franchise. For the first time in years, the Bills finally have a young quarterback that appears to be the type of guy that they can build around. Unfortunately, Allen went down with an elbow injury in Week 6.

According to a report from Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Allen is expected to miss two or three games due to the injury.

Thankfully, Allen will not need to undergo Tommy John surgery. There was some major concern that the elbow injury could end his rookie season, but instead, it sounds like he will be back on the field in the near future.

Allen has played in six games as a rookie this season, completing 54.0 percent of his pass attempts for 832 yards, two touchdowns, and five interceptions. He has also rushed for 155 yards and three touchdowns.

At just 22 years old, Allen has displayed a lot of superstar potential. He has some things that he will need to work on, but for the most part, he looks good. Buffalo certainly has to be happy with what they've seen so far.

Buffalo may not be a playoff team this season, but they are building in the right direction. Allen is going to be a huge part of their rebuild and may very well be the guy to lead them back to the playoffs.

Expect to see him back in a couple of weeks at full strength. Allen's return can not come soon enough for the Bills.
