Welp. Here we are, Buffalo Bills fans. In a place in space and time when the team has decided to bench quarterback Tyrod Taylor in favor of Nathan Peterman.

If you had this in some preseason gambling pool, congrats! Also, get help for your gambling problem.

The team announced the switch on Wednesday. Bills‏ head coach Sean McDermott made the announcement himself.

“We are in the playoff hunt and we are always focused on becoming the best team possible. We were made for better than 5-4,” McDermott said.

McDermott benched Taylor for Peterman late in Sunday’s blowout loss to the Saints, and Peterman was fine. Not great. Not awful. Just fine. It is certainly worth noting that Peterman did all of his work in garbage time of that game.

This likely means the end of Tyrod Taylor in Buffalo, too. Despite showing flashes of brilliance here and there, the franchise never felt like it fully backed him as its franchise gunslinger. Fair or not, it could be part of the reason for his struggles, as constantly looking over his shoulder likely did him no favors.

Buffalo plays an only OK Los Angeles Chargers team this weekend. It won't be a great barometer to gauge the start of the Peterman era, but it isn't an awful starting point for him to begin getting reps as a starter. Furthermore, the Bills will need to find out if he's their QB of the future or not.

They can only do that by playing him during meaningful games. So, uh, here we go?
