Since being selected with the seventh overall pick in this year's draft, there has been a significant amount of expectations placed on the shoulders of rookie quarterback Josh Allen heading into his first year. It has immediately put him in place to be the long-term answer under center for the franchise for possibly the next decade.

However, there have been questions about his ability under center aside from his tremendously strong arm that have drawn some level of concern. Despite all that, Allen has voiced that he has a straight focus on working to improve on his craft daily (h/t Darin Gantt of Pro Football Talk).

I’m going out there and I’m going to play football how I know to play football,” he said. “I’m still working on a lot of things. Coach [Brian] Daboll’s going to help me out. Through this whole draft process, I felt like I’ve made a lot of strides. . . . As we progress through this rookie minicamp, and through the rookie developmental period, I plan to improve every day.”

It's quite clear that Allen is keenly aware of the level of expectations laid before him to show promise that he can be a viable starting quarterback in the league. There are some doubts that he can fulfill that potential because of his lack of true accuracy throwing the ball and his need to improve his footwork and mechanics.

There is an opportunity in front of Allen to prove that he can improve in those areas of his skill set that will allow him to become a bonafide franchise quarterback. He already has the preferred size and arm strength that could help him excel at the next level, which if he rounded out his other abilities it could make him the promising talent under center that the Bills have been searching to find.

With training camp set to begin later this month, it should provide Allen a chance to work toward improving each day this offseason to become a viable starting NFL quarterback.
