Tom Brady is no the only player forcing a new teammate to switch numbers.

Newly-acquired Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs will indeed retain his No. 14, which he wore with the Minnesota Vikings. This will force Ray-Ray McCloud to switch numbers (via Nick Wojton of USA TODAY):

McCloud most recently wore No. 14 for the Bills, but had mentioned he was going to change his number previously, but since deleted that social media post. It’s unclear if Diggs had to cough up a little dough for the number change or if McCloud had already completed the switch.

The Bills confirmed Diggs' jersey number on Wednesday:

Of course, it only makes sense for Diggs to have a bit of seniority over McCloud, a third-year receiver who spent a short period of 2019 with the Carolina Panthers before the Bills signed him to their practice squad.

Diggs, on the other hand, was one of the most productive wideouts in football last season. The 26-year-old saw a decline in receptions and touchdowns, but he still topped the 1,000-yard mark and averaged 17.9 yards per catch, which ranked fourth in the NFL.

The Bills had to give up quite the draft haul to acquire Diggs from the Vikings. Buffalo sent their 2020 first-, fifth-, sixth- and seventh-round picks to Minnesota as well as a fourth-rounder in 2021.

However, the acquisition of Diggs gives Buffalo two of the best deep threats in the league and should serve as a boon for quarterback Josh Allen, who has plenty of arm talent but has struggled in terms of accuracy since his debut in 2018.
