Buffalo Bills tight end Tommy Sweeney will miss the rest of the 2020 season after developing myocarditis, a heart condition related to COVID-19, per Pro Football Talk.

Sweeney was placed on the COVID-19 reserve list on October 24.

Myocarditis is an inflammation of the heart muscle that can affect the heart’s ability to pump and cause rapid or abnormal heart rhythms. Many viruses can cause myocarditis, and it is a major concern for athletes who contract COVID-19.

This is terrible news for Tommy Sweeney, who will certainly be in the Bills' prayers moving forward. The 25-year-old was a seventh-round pick out of Boston College last year. He has eight receptions in his career for 114 yards, but Sweeney hasn't played at all this 2020.

The Bills are 7-3 on the campaign and in first place in the AFC East standings. The team had Week 11 off as its bye week after losing to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 10 on DeAndre Hopkins' Hail Mary catch.

Buffalo will take on the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 12 at home. The Chargers are only 3-7 and in fourth place in the AFC West. However, they do have a talented rookie gunslinger in Justin Hebert, who has thrown for 2,699 yards and 22 touchdowns.

It appears the Bills are going to win the AFC East since the New England Patriots are no longer the titans they once were with Tom Brady gone.
