Buffalo Bills cornerback Vontae Davis quit on his team and retired at halftime of their 31-20 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 2. We've officially seen it all. The 30-year-old just signed a one-year $5 million deal with the Bills this year, but didn't feel like he had the drive and physicality to keep playing at such a high level. Bills head coach Sean McDermott said he made the decision on his own.

From NBC Sports:

“He pulled himself out of the game. He told us he was done,” McDermott said.

Davis reportedly left the stadium is his street clothes after the second quarter. Bills linebacker Lorenzo Alexander was interviewed about the occurrence after the game. He said that Davis didn't give any heads up to his teammates, so it's seems like they were just as surprised as the fans. Davis did go on to release an official statement about his decision later on.

Simply put, Davis said his passion for the game died out. It's unclear how his teammates and coaching staff will receive this announcement, but it doesn't look like the Bills will be having a field house ceremony for Davis anytime soon.

The Bills now sit at 2-0. Their performance this week with Josh Allen under center looked much better than the 47-3 drubbing they were handed by the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1. Maybe if the Bills had won a game, Davis would have considered finishing out his last game. Without him, they'll have a big hole in their secondary to fill.
