The New York Jets already have the team's quarterback of the future in house, thanks to the franchise's decision to trade up en route to drafting former USC Trojans signal caller Sam Darnold in 2018. However, it appears as though the rival Buffalo Bills weren't thrilled with the idea of the Jets managing to trade up to secure Darnold's services.

In fact, the Bills were reportedly “furious” that the Jets were able to swoop in during the early portion of last year's NFL Draft.

“The mid-March trade was a surprise attack, as they beat other quarterback-hungry teams to the sweet spot in the draft. It was a Shaq-like box-out. The Buffalo Bills, picking 12th, were said to be furious upon learning of the trade. In the end, they wound up trading up to No. 7 to select [Josh] Allen,” writes Rich Cimini of ESPN.

Even so, the Jets appear to be thrilled with such a decision, which began to truly pay off toward the end of last season.

“We feel very good about Sam Darnold and, obviously at that position, we feel we have a very good young player to work with going forward,” Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan said of the team's starting quarterback at the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine, via ESPN.

Though the Jets struggled during Darnold's rookie campaign in 2018, New York is now primed for a quick turnaround come the 2019 season. The Jets notably signed former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell this offseason, paving the way for several other free agents to join Gang Green as well.
