The Buffalo Bills were one of the surprise teams that made it to the playoffs despite their tumultuous quarterback situation. Now, the question moving forward is whether Buffalo will stick with Tyrod Taylor for the long haul.

The Bills' 2017 season was highlighted by their failed experiment with backup Nathan Peterman. As a result, they could potentially be taking their chances on finding another potential franchise quarterback in the 2018 NFL Draft, according to ESPN's Mike Rodak:

“Head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane have made little commitment to Taylor since they were hired last year, and McDermott's decision to bench Taylor in mid-November spoke volumes about how much long-term faith the Bills have in Taylor. Expect the Bills to find a quarterback they like in the draft and gamble that said pick will eventually be better than Taylor.”

Despite his rocket arm, Taylor has never been known for his passing prowess. His skill set is more that of a dual-threat quarterback than a pocket-passer, which is likely what head coach Sean Mcdermott is looking for. Regardless, his running ability and mistake-free persona make him one of the biggest matchup nightmares at his position.

Taylor won't stay on the open market for long if the Bills let him go. There is a bevy of quarterback-hungry teams who feel they are one competent signal-caller away from getting back into the postseason.

Meanwhile, Buffalo has a handful of picks in this year's draft. However, both of their top assets are late first-rounders, which means it would be risky to try and find a potential franchise quarterback that deep in the draft.
