The Chicago Blackhawks lost to the New York Rangers, 6-2, at home Tuesday night, but it wasn't the defeat that worried Jonathan Toews and company the most. The Blackhawks got dealt with a new injury when forward Jujhar Khaira was brutally hit by Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba that resulted in the former getting stretchered off the ice.

Khaira was trying to control the puck and carry it out of the Blackhawks' zone when he was met by Trouba in a nasty collision. Khaira instantly fell, with his head hitting the ice. Toews has been around the NHL for several years, but the sight of his teammate getting blown up by Trouba had him ‘shaken' up.

Via ESPN:

“Personally, I was pretty shaken,” Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews said of the hit. “I'm not going to lie to you. Just glad to hear he's doing OK.”

Despite his hit, Trouba was not given a penalty, but expectedly got the ire of the Blackhawks following his hit, with Riley Stillman fighting the Rangers' blueliner minutes later.

The good news for Chicago is that Khaira is reportedly alert and seemingly out of danger, though he is expected to undergo more tests.

Khaira, who is usually a bottom-six forward for the Blackhawks, has scored two goals so far this season.
