LOS ANGELES – Blake Griffin missed the final four games of the L.A. Clippers‘ first round playoff series with the Utah Jazz after going down with a foot injury in the first half of Game 3. Without Griffin, the Clippers were able to push Utah to a Game 7, but ultimately came up short without their star power forward.

Griffin wasn't with the team for Game 7 this past Sunday as he was scheduled to meet with a foot specialist regarding the injury to his foot, which was being called a plantar plate injury to his right big toe. On Monday afternoon, Griffin underwent successful surgery on the right big toe.

Although no timetable for his recovery was given, Bill Oram of the OC Register reports that the Clippers believe he'll be ready to return for training camp.

Griffin missed 21 games in the regular season, 18 of them due to knee surgery he underwent in mid-December. He finished the season averaging 21.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists while also making a career high 38 three-pointers on 33.6% shooting.

Griffin is expected to exercise the early-termination option of his contract to opt out of the $21.3 million he's owed in 2017-18 to become an unrestricted free agent. His opting out doesn't rule him out of a return to the Clippers, however, which is considered the most likely scenario this summer.
