Carmelo Anthony is now part of the Portland Trail Blazers. But just two months ago, Damian Lillard told the world that ‘he ain't coming here.'

During an interview with NBA on ESPN, Lillard shared that they've been trying to get Anthony to no avail.

Who would've thought that two months after making the statement that Anthony would finally ink a deal and don the Trail Blazers jersey? Additional reports reveal that the Blazers notified Lillard of the potential addition of Anthony. The signing is seen as an effort to beef up the roster after Portland's relatively slow start. As of writing, they have a 4-8 record — a mediocre start for a team which made the Western Conference Finals last year.

The signing puts an end to Anthony's agonizing wait. Though the contract is reportedly non-guaranteed, this still gives the future Hall of Famer one last chance to prove his worth. Over the summer, Anthony expressed his confusion on why he — a player of elite talent — cannot make a 15-man roster out of 30 NBA teams.

With the Blazers, Anthony is expected to stretch the floor and provide that grittiness inside the paint — something that he's excelled at his entire career. Reports reveal that Anthony will join the Blazers' six-game road trip starting with the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday.
