The Portland Trail Blazers will welcome 10-time All-Star Carmelo Anthony to their rotation for Tuesday night's game against the New Orleans Pelicans. But for those wanting to see Anthony immediately receive a hefty workload, those desires will have to wait, as Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated is reporting that the team will utilize their new scoring weapon for about 20 minutes in his first regular-season game of the season:

Portland, who has opened the season with a 5-9 record after reaching the Western Conference Finals last season, will hope to get an infusion of offensive punch from Anthony, who last played in a regular-season contest on Nov. 8, 2018 as a member of the Houston Rockets. Even with the team playing their second leg of a back-to-back Tuesday, it appears that head coach Terry Stotts will not immediately thrust a significant minutes total upon Anthony, even with Damian Lillard sitting out with an injury.

A former scoring champion during his time with the New York Knicks, Anthony should factor in as a scoring threat off the bench for Portland. He has been vocal about his desire to reenter the league following an undignified exit from Houston, playing in his first contest as a Blazer as a 35-year-old.

Carmelo Anthony can be expected to slot in at the power forward position, a need created by the injury to Zach Collins that will sideline him for at least the next four months. Rookie Nassir Little is expected to remain among the starting five, although his hold on that spot is certainly tenuous following the arrival of a potential future Hall of Famer.
