Carmelo Anthony is hoping to settle down and finish his career with the team that gave him a shot to stick in the NBA for good. The Portland Trail Blazers guaranteed the full extent of his one-year deal only nine games into his tenure with the team, a sign that the organization was fully committed to making him a part of the team.

Asked if he'd be willing to re-sign with the Blazers next season, Anthony did not flinch.

“I would love to stay,” said Anthony, according to Kerry Eggers of The Portland Tribune. “I feel like this is the place for me to end my career. It could have happened earlier, but it didn’t. Now, where I’m at in my life and my career — this is where I want to retire.”

While many have noted the potential of ending his career on a one-day deal with the Denver Nuggets or the New York Knicks, Melo has found a home next to Damian Lillard and his Blazers teammates.

He feels respected and utilized properly by head coach Terry Stotts, a stark contrast from his last two experiences with the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets, who tried to mold his game into that of a role player.

Anthony has thrived with the Blazers, averaging 16.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists — much better numbers than he had in his last two forays in the Western Conference.

The perennial scorer said he doesn't consider this season a farewell one and plans to keep playing. If the Blazers extend an offer at the end of the season, it's sure that Melo will choose to settle down and wind up his days in the NBA.
