Carmelo Anthony’s days as a scoring champion and perennial NBA All-Star may be behind him, but he showed that he still has plenty left in the tank in the Portland Trail Blazers’ 118-114 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday.

It was the Trail Blazers’ fourth win in their last five games and Anthony played a huge role in taking down the Eastern Conference-leading Sixers as he scored 16 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter. The 10-time All-Star made nine of his 15 shots from the field and added two rebounds in 26 minutes of play off the bench.

When asked about how he planned to recover after a vintage performance, Anthony said that all he needs is a glass of wine.

In a postgame interview with the Inside the NBA, Charles Barkley remarked that given that the 36-year old is in his 18th season, Anthony may feel tired for the rest of the week after his performance. But the former scoring champion remarked he’ll be ready to go as soon as he gets his favorite form of refreshment.

In his second year with the Blazers, Anthony’s numbers are a bit down from last season, when he helped the team to a late-season run to secure the eighth seed in the Western Conference. This year, the three-time Olympic gold medalist is averaging 13.0 points on 38.0 percent shooting from the field, including 36.8 percent from beyond the arc. He, however, remains to pile up the milestones.

The Trail Blazers hope that the wine will be enough for Carmelo Anthony to recover in time for their next game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday.
