Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard C.J. McCollum received a PRP injection during the offseason to relieve pain and alleviate minor swelling in his right knee, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

McCollum had the injection about four months ago after experiencing persistent soreness during the end of the 2017-18 season. The scoring guard was sidelined from basketball-related activities for nine weeks. McCollum is back to 100 percent now and has no pain in the knee.

In 81 regular season games last season, McCollum averaged 21.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.4 assists while shooting 44.3 percent from the field, 39.7 percent from beyond the arc, and 83.6 percent from the free-throw line. McCollum's stellar play helped the Trail Blazers secure the third seed in the rugged Western Conference.

Unfortunately for McCollum and the Blazers, the 2018 playoffs were a nightmare. The team got swept by the New Orleans Pelicans in the first round. McCollum put up good numbers in the series, posting 25.3 points while shooting an efficient 51.9 percent from the floor and 42.3 percent from the 3-point line.

After the Blazers got swept, many around the league started to say the franchise needed to shake up the roster and either trade point guard Damian Lillard or McCollum. While there’s no doubt both players are prolific scorers, the team has not advanced far in the playoffs with Lillard and McCollum as the main cogs, and they tend to be defensive liabilities.

Blazers president Neil Olshey, however, said at his end of the season press conference he wasn't looking to trade Lillard or McCollum and wants to keep the team’s core together. We'll see if this season the Blazers can have a more successful playoff showing if they make it.
