Portland Trail Blazers star CJ McCollum has been out since January 19 due to a fractured left foot, and no timetable has been set for his return. That doesn’t mean he has been unable to applaud the efforts of his teammates, especially his All-Star backcourt mate Damian Lillard.

McCollum was particularly impressed with Lillard’s towering achievement on Wednesday night against Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans.

As you can see, CJ McCollum couldn’t help but congratulate his Blazers teammate, who has only improved his play since he has been out with the aforementioned injury.

In fact, Damian Lillard is playing so well that he has his team sitting fourth in the Western Conference following Wednesday's game with a robust 18-10 record– ahead of the Denver Nuggets, Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans in the standings.

It’s a shame that McCollum has been lost to a foot injury for the majority of the season since he was putting up the best numbers of his career with the Blazers before suffering the fracture.

As it stands, through 13 games, McCollum averaged 26.7 points, 5.0 assists and 1.3 steals per game, all of which represent career-highs for the 29-year-old shooting guard.

He’s doing all of that on the highest PER (26.4), win shares per 48 minutes (.233) and box plus/minus (6.9) of his career as well. Tack on an astounding 62 true shooting percentage and you have the makings of McCollum’s first All-Star bid.

Yet, without him, the Blazers are performing well thanks to Dame. When McCollum returns, the rest of the West better watch out.
