Brazen trash-talk is a natural occurrence in the NBA. However, the truly great trash-talkers know just what it takes to get under another player's skin.

That certainly seemed to be the case last week after an altercation between Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard C.J. McCollum and the Orlando Magic's Evan Fournier. McCollum recently discussed what he said to Fournier during an appearance on The Flagrant Two podcast:

“I just felt like he disrespected me by putting his hands on me,” McCollum said. “Obviously, I'm not trying to get any fines or anything of that nature and I told him he was sweet. He's French, and I said that, ‘you're sweet and soft like those crepes you eat.' “

It is a well-known fact the Fournier is one of the most notable products of his native France. So McCollum did not hesitate to compare him to one of the infamous pastries of the Magic guard's home country.

Although C.J. McCollum's comments certainly seem more laughable than offensive, it is indicative of how far a player is willing to go to push buttons in any way they can. Both players wound up finishing with stellar performances in an otherwise close game. However, McCollum ultimately got the last laugh after defeating Fournier and the Magic, 99-94, at home.
