Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard CJ McCollum has quickly put an end to all the negativity surrounding his earlier statement calling out Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Anthony Edwards for the latter criticizing Damian Lillard's rapping skills.

McCollum called out the hype beasts that have been trying to create a beef narrative between himself and Edwards. The Blazers stud took to Twitter to clear the air (somewhat):

McCollum made it abundantly clear that he has not set his sights on Edwards. The Blazers two guard was quick to play down any revenge game narrative, implying that at this point, he considers Edwards and the Timberwolves as nothing more than another opponent. McCollum also praised the 19-year-old's talent, but also double downed on how he should start working on his jump shot.

There's nothing else to see here, folks, as McCollum has quashed the “beef” even before it was able to pick up steam.

For their part, the Blazers have been quite active in the market of late, as they look to fortify their squad for the upcoming season. Portland recently traded for Robert Covington from the Houston Rockets, while also bringing in former Boston Celtics big man Enes Kanter into the fold. They also extended the deals of Carmelo Anthony and Rodney Hood, among others.

The Blazers' season came to a disappointing end last season, falling to the eventual champs, the Los Angeles Lakers, in the first round of the playoffs. This was after Portland went on a furious run in the bubble to secure their spot in the postseason, which at this point, is something they will be building on for the 2020-21 campaign.
