For basketball analyst Colin Cowherd, Damian Lillard's performance in Game 5 against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday moved him into the Top 4 elite point guards in the NBA.

Per FOX Sports, Cowherd believes that the top four point guards are Stephen Curry, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, and Lillard. He even likened Lillard's performance to the rise of a young actor in a movie. For him, it was Russell Westbrook and his exciting play which got him into the theater. However, as the movie progressed, it was Lillard whom he wanted to see.

Damian Lillard has long been one of the most underrated players in the league. Perhaps one good proof is his 2016 All-Star snub despite posting excellent numbers. But at the end of the year, he was named into the All-NBA Second Team.

Moreover, as Cowherd posited, we are seeing a different type of competitor in Lillard. Their last two playoff campaigns ended up in sweeps. In 2017, they were manhandled by the Golden State Warriors in four games. The following year, they were upset and embarrassed by the lower-seeded New Orleans Pelicans in four games as well.

We can assume that the past is in the back of Lillard's mind as he rose up for possibly the most epic game-winner in NBA history. And he may have more in store as they go deeper into the postseason.
