As a lifelong basketball fanatic, Portland Trail Blazers star guard Damian Lillard actually sits down for hours per day to watch games. He knows that not a lot of people do the same, especially fans and analysts who, for some reason, have a lot of opinions on the sport.
On Twitter, Lillard blasted the “wannabe” analysts who exhibit this type of behavior. It's understandable that the Blazers guard would say something like this since NBA players, especially stars like him, have been on the receiving end of criticisms.
Some NBA players have made a choice not to pay attention. However, it's close to impossible to ignore them these days with the wannabe analysts practically everywhere—on TV, radio, and social media.
As someone that watches A LOT of NBA games … not just highlights and box scores.. it’s obvious that so many ppl who speak on the game don’t really watch.

Several of Lillard's fans echoed his thoughts. While not naming names, the followers of the Blazers star slammed analysts who get a lot of airtime with their “hot takes.”
Including some people who have HUGE platforms to spread their misinformed hot takes… 🤦🏻

One fan beefed up the argument from the Blazers All-Star by pointing out that these critics can't even play basketball.
And they can’t hoop either.

Rashad Phillips went direct to the point with his response. Those who are actually spending time watching the game and discovering the nuances do not get a voice on “major platforms.” As a result, viewers only get the “gossip” angle of sports instead of the actual art and science behind it.
Being intelligent about the game isn’t respected on major platforms. People gravitate to the gossip of sports instead of the purity of it. It’s sad to what media has become.

In response, a fan mentioned Skip Bayless as the one responsible for this type of discourse.
Yes he did. I agree

It's a gutsy tweet from the Blazers leader, but he is certainly not alone with his argument.
It’s all highlights and box scores for most people!!! They really think they know the game off of that too smh https://t.co/Ok1qsbX0uD
