Blazers’ Damian Lillard breaks another story involving NBA writer changing companies

Damian Lillard, Blazers

Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard has been dropping media bombs since revealing the departure of ESPN’s Chris Haynes for Yahoo Sports just a couple of days ago, and this latest one is definitely #DameBomb quality, as he has revealed that longtime USA TODAY Sports insider Sam Amick is joining The Athletic:

Amick is just the latest of many to join the new pay-to-read website, which has installations all across the United States. Amick’s move comes on the heels of scoopmaster Shams Charania’s decision to join The Athletic. Michael Scotto, Scott Agness, and Bill Oram, among many others, have joined the The Athletic’s NBA crew.

Lillard, who was chided by backcourt partner CJ McCollum for breaking news earlier this week, teased that there would be many more moves to The Athletic to come:

He did the same days ago, when reporting the initial Haynes move:

If Lillard chose to have a title next to his desk, we can now add “reporter” to his list of occupations, after taking on rapping during his offseason.

Nice to know there’s a backup to his backup profession. Some are just that talented, and it seems like Dame Time has now extended to the summer.
