Damian Lillard and his Portland Trail Blazers remained the only undefeated team in the league since the All-Star break, winning 13 straight games after taking down the Golden State Warriors on Valentine's Day in a night full of fireworks. And to this moment, their standing in the Western Conference doesn't seem to be a factor of luck.

The Blazers doubled down this weekend, taking out the Detroit Pistons handily, as well as the L.A. Clippers on Sunday, beating both teams by 13 points.

“We're not trying to surprise anybody,” said Lillard after a 122-109 win over the Clippers, per Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints. “In a tough Western Conference, we've been steady and you don't accidentally do what we've done in this league.”

“I don't think we're trying to surprise anybody, we're just trying to continue to do what we're doing and continue get the result that we've been getting.”

Steady is the keyword in Lillard's approach, as the flame has run hot for both him and backcourt mate C.J. McCollum, spearheading the Blazers' offense through these 13 straight wins coming off the break.

Their streak isn't a result of a favorable schedule, filled with meaty wins over the Warriors (twice), the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and even against a red-hot Utah Jazz team that has gone from a 10th seed to fifth in the West.

Portland's defense has taken a major step forward this season and has been arguably the biggest change from last season's team, aided by a strong presence on the block coming from Jusuf Nurkic, who swatted away four shots last night.
