Things got heated on Twitter Friday morning after ‘Undisputed' host and sports analyst Shannon Sharpe claimed that Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard will never win a championship and will be forgotten in the future. Lillard did not let the diss slide. He quickly responded with a tweet rebuking Sharpe's claim.

Lillard makes several good points. It's easy to chide him for taking the massive contract while on the sidelines. But realistically, most people wouldn't turn down the kind of money he got from the Blazers if they got the chance to take it.

Additionally, who knows if Lillard will ever win a ring? With the destruction of the Golden State Warriors dynasty, the league is more wide open than it has been in years. Clearly, the two Los Angeles teams will be favorites to win it all this upcoming season, but anything could happen over the span of 82 games. Also in Lillard's favor is the fact he is only 28 years old. He has got plenty of time for Portland to build and adapt to become a championship level team.

Dame is known for already playing with a chip on his shoulder. Sharpe's comments will only drive him to play even harder. Look for Lillard to be a man on a mission this upcoming season. It'd be a mistake to underestimate the Blazers and their superstar guard.
