Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard tossed a gorgeous drop pass to a cutting Robert Covington for a slam midway through the third quarter in Saturday's contest against the New York Knicks .

While the point guard is known for his prodigious scoring, Lillard has proven more than capable of dissecting teams with his passing ability.

With the Blazers taking the ball out bounds with just under six seconds remaining on the shot clock, the designed play saw Covington run his defender through a rub route setup by Enes Kanter near the elbow. With RJ Barrett now a step behind the cutting Covington after colliding with the big man, Mitchell Robinson was left in no man's land near the basket, with his back turned towards the action and no one alerting him of the need to rotate over.

Once Lillard saw the miscue, he deftly took advantage.

Receiving a hard bounce pass along the sideline, Covington promptly scooped up the dish and slammed it home for a couple of points that cut New York's lead to a mere five points.

While the Blazers earned an easy basket on the play, the team struggled for most of the afternoon against an otherwise stout defense. Besides Lillard, whose 29/9/4 stat line led the way, Portland shot a measly 42% from the floor and failed to score 100 points for only the third time this season.

Though the Knicks are unlikely to be pleased with the highlight pass Dame provided, they ultimately got the last laugh with the 110-99 victory.
