Portland Trail Blazers All-Star point guard Damian Lillard has a lot to smile about now that he has been reunited with his two-year-old son, after the bubble MVP left the bubble on Wednesday to tend to his injured knee.

Lillard took to Instagram to share how this reunion has proven to be “good for his soul:”

Lillard's exit from the bubble was not exactly ideal, after the 30-year-old was forced to depart the campus to seek medical attention for his knee sprain. Lillard sustained the injury during Monday's 135-115 defeat against the Los Angeles Lakers. Portland proved no match to the Lakers on the evening, with the first-seeded LA side taking a commanding 3-1 series lead following the Game 4 blowout.

Damian Lillard had already been ruled out for the pivotal Game 5 contest, which should have taken place on Wednesday. All six teams boycotted the scheduled matchups on Wednesday in the wake of the Jacob Blake shooting in Wisconsin on Sunday. It was announced shortly after the boycott decision that Lillard was to exit the campus, so the correlation of these two incidents are unlikely to be coincidental.

As it stands, Portland's exit is only going to be a matter of time. They have lost three straight against a powerhouse Lakers side, and with Lillard now out of the picture, the Blazers chances of mounting an upset have plummeted. The Blazers and their furious run towards the postseason proved to be one of the most fascinating narratives since the restart, and it's a shame that its about to come to an ultimately disappointing end — one way or another.
