Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans knew whose time it was in the fourth quarter against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday, but still, they couldn't stop what was inevitable.  Damian Lillard took over in the final canto, spoiling Williamson's career-night in the Blazers' 126-124 road win at Smoothie King Center.

The Pels knew their one-point lead with around 20 seconds remaining in regulation was not safe, especially with Lillard on the other team.

The 5-time All-Star already understands what to do on these types of scenarios, as he methodically broke down the defense of Pels guard Lonzo Ball. Instead of pulling up for a long-range bomb, Lillard attacked the basket with gusto right at NOLA's teeth of the defense. The end result? A spectacular and-one play to give his team the lead, and eventually, the W.

Damian Lillard was all over the stat-sheet on this one, scoring 43 points on 14-for-28 shooting from the field and 7-of-16 from past the arc. He also dished out 16 assists, four rebounds, one steal, and one block in 38 minutes. Zion Williamson should have been the star of the night after putting up a career-high 36 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals in 34 minutes. All that went for naught, once Lillard added another game-winner to his already expansive resume.
