The Portland Trail Blazers have their backs against the wall as it is, but they might just be in store for more bad news following new reports pertaining to Damian Lillard's knee injury.

Lillard underwent an MRI on his right knee following Monday's blowout defeat against the Los Angeles Lakers, and according to the Blazers, their All-Star point guard will need to undergo a second one:

That does not bode well for Damian Lillard's status for Game 5 on Wednesday. The injury did not appear that serious initially, and the general belief was that Lillard's inability to return was primarily brought about by the lopsidedness of the contest. The Lakers were up early and never looked back, with the blowout finishing with a 135-115 scoreline.

Lillard logged just 27 minutes in this one, finishing with 11 points on 3-of-9 shooting to go along with one rebound, four assists, and a steal. The Lakers' defense has made life really tough on Lillard after his dominant run earlier in the bubble.

This new development suggests that Lillard's injury might be more serious that initially anticipated. Knee injuries are always tricky, so there's always a chance that this ends up as a real concern for Portland.

With the Blazers now down 3-1 in the series and one loss away from being eliminated, you can be sure that Lillard will do everything in his power to ensure that he is able to suit up for Wednesday's contest. Then again, in the end it might not be up to him.

Despite the win-or-go-home nature of Game 5, the Blazers still won't force Damian Lillard to play if there is any risk of making the knee injury worse than it currently is, especially since it looks like they're now officially totally outmanned by a rejuvenated Lakers squad.
