Damian Lillard is locked in for the Portland Trail Blazers. Amid all the rumors surrounding the star last season, Dame has committed to his team for the long run. Today, he has signed a massive two-year extension that will keep him in Oregon for five years.

During the press conference for his contract signing, Damian Lillard talked about the Blazers' recent trade for Jerami Grant. The multi-time All-Star praised the move, as Grant came from two winning teams and fills a positional need for the team. (via Sean Highkin)

“Getting Jerami was huge. You've got to be deep on the wing. Jerami is a guy that was on winning teams in Denver and Oklahoma City. … Filling a role that we needed and being able to do that job better than what we had.”

The Blazers acquired Jerami Grant in one of the savviest moves the team has done in the last few years. They acquired the former Pistons forward for a 2025 first-round pick. Considering Grant's talent and the obvious need Portland has for him, it's not hard to see why Lillard's optimistic about this pickup.

For the first time in what seems like ages, Damian Lillard now has a high-caliber weapon from the wing position. Grant's ability to defend multiple positions and his improved offensive skillset makes him a valuable asset for the Blazers in their campaign next season.

The question is: what other moves will the Blazers make to improve their roster around Lillard further? They did get better with the Grant trade, but it's more than likely not enough to push them over the other West contenders. Perhaps another trade for a bigger superstar is in the works? We will have to wait and find out what they're up to in the offseason.
