Blazers superstar point guard Damian Lillard joined an elite club Tuesday night against the Pelicans. Lillard became just the fourth NBA player ever to reach over 16,000 points and 4,000 assists in their first nine seasons. The four man list consists of some of the best playmakers in league history: Oscar Robertson, Larry Bird, and LeBron James.

Since coming into the league in 2012, Lillard has never averaged below 19 points and 5.5 assists in a Blazers uniform. He combines his voluminous scoring and effective passing with devastating range, making him one of the league’s premier offensive threats.

This achievement is yet another to add to the Blazers star's already extensive resume. He is a six time all-star, five time all-NBA team member, and took home rookie of the year honors after his first campaign. Last year, the superstar averaged a staggering 30 points and 8 assists per game

This season, Lillard is putting up elite numbers once again, averaging 29.9 points and 7.9 assists for Portland. These numbers put him at ninth overall in assists and second overall in scoring, putting him behind only Bradley Beal’s league leading 32.3 points per game. Portland currently sits in the sixth spot within the ultra-competitive Western Conference.

As the playoff push continues, fans can expect Lillard to keep up the tremendous production that gained him entry to such an exclusive list of NBA greats. The Blazers will come up against the Pelicans, Mavericks, and Nets in the coming week, before looking forward to games against the Heat, Magic, and Raptors.

Lillard’s scoring and playmaking have been critical to Portland’s success for as long as he has been in the league. If he can keep up his incredible production, Blazers fans can expect another epic postseason performance ahead.
