Is Damian Lillard the greatest Portland Trail Blazers player ever? Well, he sure has a lot of work to do but he’s on his way.

On Wednesday against the Chicago Bulls, Lillard officially surpassed Clyde Drexler for the top spot in the franchise’s all-time free-throws made list. Lillard had 3796 free throws entering the contest, so breaking Drexler’s record of 3798 didn’t come as a surprise.

Clyde Drexler is a true Blazers legend, and while Damian Lillard has proven himself to be one of the best in NBA history, he is still a little behind Clyde the Glide in Portland’s history books. After all, Drexler owns several franchise records, including points, games players, minutes played and more.

Drexler spent the first 11 and half years of his career in Rip City before the Blazers traded him to the Houston Rockets in 1996 to honor his request to be sent to a contender when they were out of the playoff race.

Lillard appears to be following the same trajectory as Drexler, experiencing great individual success despite not having much as a team. However, the Blazers are hoping the can surround Dame Time with the right players to allow him to contend for the title in his remaining peak years.
