Damian Lillard was seconds away from becoming a hero. The Portland Trail Blazers had clawed their way back against the Phoenix Suns, ready to snatch away victory from the jaws of defeat.

The Blazers trailed by eight points entering the final frame. That's when Lillard decided to put the team on his back, signaling Dame Time much earlier than usual. The scoring savant poured in 24 big points, including what looked like the dagger to put the Blazers up three with 34.7 seconds left.

But then things took a turn for the worst, as Blazers forward Robert Covington couldn't convert either of his free-throws, which gave way for Devin Booker to draw a foul of his own and steal the game right back for the Suns, 118-117.

This loss was tough for the Blazers, but especially tough for the infamous fan who bet his house on Portland's over/under line.

It looked like a lost cause for Twitter user LordTreeSap just days after he sent out his desperate plea to Damian Lillard himself. The Blazers immediately found themselves mired in a five-game losing streak to fall to 32-28. That left them with just 12 games, needing 10 more to reach the bettor's goal of 42 wins.

However, Lillard's guarantee kicked in shortly after. The Blazers went on a tear, winning nine of their next ten to put them just one win away from saving the man's house.

With the epic comeback nearly complete against the Phoenix Suns, it looked like money in the bank up until the waning seconds. So now it all boils down to the Blazers' final game of the season against the Denver Nuggets.

Safe to say that man's going to be praying for a Blazers victory from now until Sunday.
