Portland Trail Blazers star point guard Damian Lillard says just like other players are doing what is best for their careers by changing teams and creating superteams, he’s staying in Portland because it’s what he wants to do for his career.

Lillard has consistently said he wants to retire with the Blazers and be the guy who brings Portland a title. The superstar signed a five-year, $196 million extension with the Blazers in the summer.

“They allow me to be like the best version of myself as a player,” Lillard says of the Blazers, via Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated. “They support me in the stuff that I do off the court. So why am I looking for a different situation?”

Lillard is the second-leading scorer in Blazers franchise history. He’s currently behind Hall of Famer Clyde Drexler. The four-time All-Star wants to win a championship in Portland and has no intention of leaving to form a superteam.
