The Portland Trail Blazers will not have the services of spitfire point guard Damian Lillard for the second game in a row. According to Joe Freeman of The Oregonian, Lillard would not suit up versus the Oklahoma City Thunder this Tuesday because of a nagging calf injury that also forced the guard to sit out last Sunday’s 111-1110 win over the San Antonio Spurs at home.

With Damian Lillard unavailable, the Blazers are expected to insert Shabazz Napier into their starting lineup once again. Napier was part of the Blazers’ starting five versus the Spurs, producing decent numbers of 15 points, seven assists, two steals, and five rebounds in 33 minutes of action.

Lillard’s absence also means that CJ McCollum will be the unquestioned go-to guy for the Blazers, who have won three of their last four games. McCollum led the Blazers against the Spurs with 25 points on 11-of-24 shooting from the field to go with seven assists and five rebounds. He also scored the game-winning basket for the now 21-18 Blazers.

It’s unknown how long Damian Lillard will be sidelined by his injury, but the fact that he has been ruled out for the Thunder game a day before the contest suggests that he might need more time to recuperate.

On the season, Lillard is averaging 24.9 points, 6.3 assists, and 4.8 rebounds per game. He was last seen on the court during Jan. 5’s 110-89 home win against the visiting Atlanta Hawks in which he scored only 14 points in 29 minutes of floor duty.

The soonest Lillard can return is this coming Wednesday in Houston.
