Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard has been sidelined for about a week of action due to an abdominal injury. Lillard was initially expected to miss at least 10 days with the injury, though his timetable for a potential return has changed after a recent special procedure.

That's big news for the Blazers. Damian Lillard basically received a shot that will help him manage the pain and, hopefully, result in a quicker return to the court. Lillard, who will miss his sixth straight contest on Wednesday night, felt increased pain with the ailment, which prompted Portland to opt for the procedure, per Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

Lillard is slated to be reevaluated by the team on Friday, at which time they'll likely decide on his potential playing status for their scheduled game on Sunday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Despite playing through the pain, Lillard has still been dependable, albeit a bit inefficient, averaging 21.5 points, 7.8 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game on 39.7 percent shooting from the field. The Blazers star has also been the subject of plenty of trade rumors, as well as in the news for his reaction to the firing of ex-general manager Neil Olshey.

It sounds like Damian Lillard will make a return to the court sooner than anticipated, depending on how his body responds to the procedure. That's great news for the Blazers and their fans.
