Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard says one of the main reasons he wants to spend his entire career in Portland is because of the investment both sides have made to each other.

Lillard, who signed a five-year, $196 million maximum contract extension with the Blazers this summer, wants to “finish the things” he started.

“It’s been a huge investment,” Lillard told Jason Quick of The Athletic. “Not just on the floor, but everything I do off the court. A lot of people I’ve met have kind of gone up this path with a lot of time spent (with me), so I’m committed to that. Same thing with the team. There has been a lot of time invested, a lot of hard work, a lot of losses, just a lot of stuff I’ve been a part of and I want to finish the job. I want to be here for my career so I can make sure I finish the things I’ve started.”

This past season, Lillard guided the Blazers to the Western Conference Finals. The four-time All-Star averaged 25.8 points and 6.9 assists during the regular season.
