Carmelo Anthony had a great showing on Tuesday night as he helped the Portland Trail Blazers secure a win over the surging Houston Rockets, 110-102. Following the victory, Damian Lillard could not help but call out anyone and everyone who continue to doubt Anthony's credentials as a future Hall of Famer — a notion that was seconded by Rockets superstar Russell Westbrook.

According to Lillard, he simply cannot understand why so many people continue to hate on Melo.

“I find it real funny and disrespectful how people speak on him. He's a Hall of Famer,” Lillard said, per Sean Highkin of Bleacher Report.

On Tuesday, Anthony finished with 15 points (on 5-of-14 shooting), 11 rebounds and two steals in 36 minutes of action. He also hit a dagger triple late in the game to prevent any potential last-minute comeback from the Rockets.

As for Westbrook, he was also full of praises for Melo, whom he had the opportunity to play with during their lone season together with the Oklahoma City Thunder a couple of years back.

“Melo is a Hall of Famer, man,” Westbrook said of the Blazers star. “He’s an unbelievable teammate. It’s always good to see him do well, play well. He belongs in this league. He’s shown that time in and time out.”

Anthony certainly played a significant role for the Blazers in what was a crucial win for the team. They have now closed the gap on the Memphis Grizzlies, who are currently sitting on the eighth seed in the West.

Now just a game and half behind, Damian Lillard, Carmelo Anthony and the Blazers are hoping to overtake the Grizzlies for the final playoff spot within the next couple of games. However, it will surely not be an easy task, with the San Antonio Spurs, New Orleans Pelicans and Phoenix Suns joining the chase.
