Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers etched himself into the history books after draining one of the most amazing game-winners in NBA Playoffs history.

Following his 37-foot step-back three-pointer at the buzzer — a shot that clinched the series for the Blazers — Lillard opened up about what was going through his mind before he took the shot.

“I was blanking out,” he said, via Jason Quick of The Athletic. “I was having my own thoughts. I was … angry. Not that type of anger like I was mad, but anger like I was in a rage.”

Lillard does play with a bit of a chip off his shoulder, and his fueled determination was on full display not only in Game 5 Tuesday night but throughout this first-round encounter against the Thunder.

Lillard's 50-point, 10-three-pointer, seven-rebound, and six-assist performance was definitely one for the books (this was his playoffs career-high in scoring), but his consistently amazing play throughout the series cannot be understated.

In five games against Oklahoma City, the 28-year-old averaged an astounding 33.0 points (on 46.1 percent shooting), 5.2 three-pointers, 4.4 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 2.4 steals, and 0.6 blocks in 39.8 minutes of play. Those are some MVP-caliber numbers right there, and it shows that Lillard is a man on a mission.

Portland's embarrassing first-round sweep at the hands of the New Orleans Pelicans last season is still fresh in Lillard's memory, and this series win against the Thunder is a step towards the right direction in terms of obtaining his much-desired redemption.
