It appears that Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard went back to work immediately following his team's Western Conference Finals defeat at the hands of the defending champions, the Golden State Warriors. However, the 28-year-old decided to take a quick break from basketball, and instead, opted to start working on his music again.

The four-time All-Star took to Twitter to make the announcement that he is now on his way to release some new material in the near future.

Known in the hip hop scene by his moniker, DAME D.O.L.L.A., Lillard is considered by many as one of, if not the best rap artists in the NBA. This is why there were more than a few fans that got excited upon learning about Lillard's upcoming release.

The former Rookie of the Year has released two studio albums to date: “The Letter O” in 2016, followed by “Confirmed” in 2018. He took a hiatus from the music scene last year, but it appears that we should expect another release from him this year. Presumably, this would be Lillard's third album release.

Lillard probably has a lot of material right now, following his roller coaster of a season. The 6-foot-3 point guard was his usual dominant self throughout the regular season, leading his team to the third overall seed in a ruthless Western Conference.

In the postseason, Lillard memorably eliminated the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round via a long-distance three-pointer at the buzzer — one that will live in the memory of fans for years to come. However, their season came to a crashing halt in the WCF, with the Dubs taking them out in a clean, four-game sweep.

It's back to the drawing board this summer for Lillard and company, as they hope to bounce back with a vengeance in the upcoming season.
