Portland Trail Blazers superstar point guard Damian Lillard is already looking ahead. Recently, the four-time All-Star gave us a brief glimpse of how the future is shaping up for Portland, as he shared how high he is on incoming sophomore shooting guard Anfernee Simons.

“His potential is crazy,” Lillard said, via Jason Quick of The Athletic.

Lillard went on to explain what exactly he sees in Simons, and why he believes the 20-year-old is set to make a splash in the near future.

“His demeanor is what sold me,” Lillard said. “It kind of reminded me of myself a lot — just how in a room full of grown men in the locker room he was never uncomfortable. He was never — if everybody is one side, he’s not going to agree with everybody because he feels he has to. He stands on his own two feet.”

That's some praise coming from Lillard here who admits that he sees a bit of himself in the young guard. Moreover, Lillard also noted that Simons' tireless work ethic will play a pivotal role in the former 24th overall pick's journey in the NBA.

“And he works,” Lillard stated. “He puts the time in. He doesn’t complain. I think he has a lot of qualities about him that made me believe if he keeps working and keeps developing, I think when I’m on my way out, y’all will be talking to him every game.”

Dame is obviously so impressed with Simons that he shows no hesitation whatsoever in talking up the youngster's potential. So much so, that Lillard has pretty much already envisioned himself passing the baton to Simons as his career winds down.
