The NBA's change to their rule asking players not to wear shoes that don't somehow match their uniform's colors has been one keeping some stars from fully expressing themselves on the court through their apparel. Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard, who has worn Adidas since coming into the league, said he received a warning from the league office last season for wearing non-Blazers-colored shoes on the court.

“I thought it was lifted last year! I saw people wearing all kind of stuff,” Lillard told Aaron Dodson of The Undefeated. “I’m gonna definitely take advantage of that. Even though I get a little uncomfortable when the colors get too crazy, and go away from the color of the uniform I’m wearing. But I guess I’m gonna have to play with it a little more.”

“I haven’t been fined, but I’ve been warned for shoes … I wanna say it was for my Bapes last year.”

This change will now allow players to have more fun with combinations and market their own signature shoes with plenty of more freedom.

Lillard, for one, will get to wear past the black, white, and red that's attached to the Portland Trail Blazers — something that should make his fans excited for the next time it's Lillard Time at the Moda Center.
