Trent has thrived in his new destination and his success away from Portland prompted his dad, Gray Trent Sr., a former NBA player himself, to take a shot at the Blazers in an interview on Sportsnet's “The Raptors Show”, as shared by Libaan Osman of the Toronto Star.

Raptors guard Gary Trent Jr.'s dad clearly had problems with how his son was treated during his time with the Blazers.

Trent Jr's dad said that his son was depressed and “playing with so much pain” that it hurt to watch him suit up for the Blazers. According to Trent Sr., the Raptors guard dealt with negativity from the Portland front office, which was mentally draining for Trent Jr.

He went on to say that Trent Jr.'s trade from the Blazers to the Raptors was the best thing that ever could have happened for his son's career. Not only has the 23-year-old Trent Jr. blossomed into a strong 3-and-D player with the Raptors on the court, but he has also experienced a turnaround mentally off the court, according to his dad.

Judging by his dad's words, the trade from the Blazers to the Raptors may have indeed been the best thing that ever could have happened for Gary Trent Jr.'s career.
