Hassan Whiteside, the 6-foot-10 rim protector and enforcer, was acquired by Portland in the offseason from the Miami Heat in the four-team Jimmy Butler sign-and-trade. He has appeared in all of the Blazers' first five regular-season games, averaging 12.8 points and 12.2 rebounds in 25.4 minutes per contest.

Whiteside was brought in to alleviate issues caused by Jusuf Nurkic's inactivity. Nurkic, who has come into his own since being dealt from the Denver Nuggets to Portland, fractured his tibia and fibula in March earlier this year and is out indefinitely.

John Collins, meanwhile, has been inactive in the last two games due to a dislocated shoulder he sustained in their match against the Dallas Mavericks.

Collins, a Gonzaga product, has slowly turned into a more reliable player alongside Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, and there are actually expectations on him to make another big leap in his development this 2019-20 season.

Whiteside and Collins have started in the frontcourt for Stotts' team. Now, the team has to find a way to fill the void they left as the two recover from their injury.
