Free agent point guard Isaiah Briscoe has agreed to a training camp deal with the Portland Trail Blazers, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Blazers continue to make salary-cap-friendly moves after signing Archie Goodwin earlier last week, rounding out their team with promising young players.

Briscoe is a great athletic prospect, but is poor in key assets at his position, shooting only 29 percent from deep and 63 percent from the free-throw line as a sophomore at the University of Kentucky.

At 6-foot-3 and 218 pounds, he has an NBA-ready body with a great motor and all-around game to make him worth a watch, but his game will be limited as long as his jump shot continues to be an issue.

Drawing a Kentucky-related similarity, he's very much a new version of Eric Bledsoe — a bruising guard capable of scoring the ball, rebounding and playmaking — but one in a very raw state, still needing development at the defensive end of the game and honing his shooting.

Portland will likely have Briscoe and Goodwin battle for a spot on the roster, with Goodwin having the advantage in NBA experience and ability to play either position.

Both guards lack a consistent shooting touch, which will relay both or either behind the likes of Shabazz Napier and Pay Connaughton, who are also battling for minutes in a crowded Rip City lineup.
