The Portland Trail Blazers lost Game 6 to the Denver Nuggets on their home floor, meaning their season is now over after a first-round series defeat. It was a disappointing end to an up-and-down season for the Blazers, who seemed prime to potentially make a run after a hot close to the regular season. But it wasn't meant to be, and there will surely be significant changes within the organization.

The way Jusuf Nurkic was talking after the Blazers' Game 6 loss to the Nuggets, he seemed to think he could be a part of the overhaul. The Blazers center didn't seem happy with his situation and suggested he could wind up elsewhere next season.

Via Adrian Bernecich of Blazer's Edge:

“I don’t know what I need to do, I’ve got a non-guaranteed contract, I don’t know if I’m even going to be back, right.”

“I’m going to leave that to Rich Paul, my agent, we’ll see what happens.”

“As far as right now, I’m just going to get away from basketball and see what my next step should be, we’ll see what’s going to happen, I’m not sure if I’m coming back or what the team direction is, we’ll look at that later.”

“At the beginning of the year I wish my role was bigger, I think I could help even more but, like I said, I was respectful and tried to do what they asked of me.”

“I don’t know what the future stands for me or for the team and this team.”

When asked if he wants to return to the Blazers, Nurkic suggested he would be open to it “in the right situation,” but that it's currently not the right situation, whatever that means. Could that have been a shot at head coach Terry Stotts? His teammates? It's unclear.

Either way, while Nurkic made these cryptic comments, it looks like he'll probably be back. That non-guaranteed contract he brought up? He has $4 million of $12 million guaranteed for 2021-22, and the Blazers have until Aug. 1 to guarantee the rest of it. The Athletic's Jason Quick says Portland plans to guarantee Nurkic's contract, barring a catastrophic injury that occurs between now and then.

This situation with Nurkic and the Blazers is one to monitor. There's clearly some tension bubbling here.
