Even with the current season still in full swing, many teams are already looking forward to the summer, which will mark the start of one of the biggest free agencies to date. A number of superstars are slated to be up for grabs, as well as young guns who are starting to make a name for themselves in the NBA as capable of becoming stars in the future.

One of them is Portland Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic, who will be a restricted free agent by then. He is expected to generate a lot of interest from teams around the league for his solid play since last season. However, the Bosnian international recently shared that he is not thinking about it yet, and also added, via Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype, that he is just focused on playing well for his team to prove himself further.

“I don’t even think about it. I’m really only focused on Portland and the playoffs right now. In this league, business is business, but I just try to keep it simple: I’m going to hoop and let everybody else do their job.”

This can definitely be considered as good news for the Blazers, as Nurkic is not allowing his impending free agency to serve as a distraction to him. With the team currently in third place in the Western Conference, they are in a very good position to make a deep run in the playoffs, which will also be Nurkic’s opportunity to showcase his talents and increase his stock.

Through 66 games this season, Nurkic is averaging solid numbers of 14.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.2 blocks in 26.0 minutes per game. He will continue to be relied upon heavily by his teammates as a force inside the paint, and should he deliver, will undoubtedly be a hot commodity come summer time.
