Portland Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic will not play in Wednesday's preseason game against the Phoenix Suns due to a concussion, per The Oregonian’s Mike Richman.

Nurkic suffered the injury in Monday’s preseason game against the Sacramento Kings. He had 16 points, seven rebounds, and two assists in 28 minutes against the Kings.

Nurkic was involved in several physical plays against the Kings, including one in the second quarter when Sacramento reserve big man Jack Cooley caught him in the face with an errant elbow. Cooley was assessed a technical foul and Nurkic remained in the game, playing another 14 minutes.

The Blazers have one preseason game remaining on their schedule after facing the Suns. Although, head coach Terry Stotts has said he won’t be playing his starters big minutes in their final two games.

The Blazers, who begin the regular season against the Suns on October 18, are already without starting power forward Noah Vonleh, who suffered a shoulder strain a few weeks ago.

Should Jusuf Nurkic remain unavailable for the season opener, the Blazers do have options to fill in at center with Meyers Leonard, Ed Davis, and rookie Zach Collins.
