LaMarcus Aldridge may not able to return to the Portland Trail Blazers as a player, but he is more than open to coming back as a coach for the team.

Aldridge's final season ended abruptly, announcing his retirement with the Brooklyn Nets midway through the 2020-21 campaign due to a heart issue. However, he is not staying away from the game he loves and is even hoping to have a career in the NBA post-retirement.

When asked by fans if he would be open to coaching with the Blazers, Aldridge did not hold back and admitted he is “always down to go home.”

For what it's worth, LaMarcus Aldridge was asked first about potentially coaching for the Nets. However, it will undoubtedly be awesome to see him return to Portland, which has a special place in his heart after spending the first nine seasons of his career with the Blazers.

It could also be the perfect time for Aldridge, with Chauncey Billups recently hired to be the team's head coach. Billups is now set to build his coaching staff, and it could be a great move for him to add more player experience on the coaching side.

There has been a lot of talks about Aldridge's jersey being retired by the Blazers, with Damian Lillard even endorsing it after the big man's retirement. Aldridge himself absolutely loved the idea, saying that it would be a “huge honor” for him if it happens. Aside from that though, it is definitely intriguing to have Aldridge as a coach and maybe help develop the big men of Portland–adding more to his legacy in Rip City.
