The Neil Olshey era is officially over in Portland, as the Blazers sent the man packing in a stunning early Friday news dump. While some reports began to trickle in early, the franchise was as quick to release an official statement on the matter.

Here is said statement, though it is in Twitter form because 2021 knows no bounds:

There's been scandal, rumors, dirt-digging, and the like surrounding Neil Olshey and the Blazers from some time now. And, funny enough, the hiring of a head coach was the least of the issues going on (though not worth undercutting the significance of that move).

Nonetheless, as the franchise itself pointed out, after an independent review, it became pretty clear they needed to move on from the guy overseeing much of their basketball operations and the like.

While Neil Olshey getting fired is obviously huge news, especially for those who root for the Blazers, the fallout that will come from this is as important to follow. After all, Damian Lillard hasn't heard his name stuck in trade mock scenarios for two seasons because everything was fine and dandy in Portland.

Nonetheless, see you later, Neil Olshey. We got to know you far too much.
