The Portland Trail Blazers have extended Jake Layman a qualifying offer, according to a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. As a result, the former University of Maryland standout will be a restricted free agent:

Layman's qualifying offer is worth $1.93 million.

Layman, now 25 years of age, has spent the last three seasons with the Blazers. He made 71 appearances (33 starts) with the team during their 2018-19 regular-season campaign, racking up averages of 7.6 points on 50.9 percent shooting from the field (32.6 percent from beyond the arc) and 3.1 rebounds in 18.7 minutes per outing.

Whether or not Layman will be with the Blazers next season remains to be seen. He has been fairly productive, and teams are always in need of shooters. Other teams could choose to make an offer, but Portland will have the opportunity to match. If no offer sheet comes, Layman could choose to sign the qualifying offer and become an unrestricted free agent in 2020.

The Blazers finished the 2018-19 regular season with a 53-29 overall record, which earned the team a No. 3 seed in the Western Conference. Portland made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals by beating the Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets, only to get swept by the Golden State Warriors. Layman saw his minutes go down in the postseason as he fell out of the rotation.
